This is a list of terms that a student is likely to encounter in a religious studies course, book, or article. Many of the terms overlap with other disciplines and should be useful in related courses and scholarship. The initial glossary on this site comes from our book, Introduction to the Study of Religion (Routledge 2008). We hope to continually expand that initial list and appreciate any help from students and scholars who would like to suggest additional entries (this can be done by clicking on the Comments & Contributions bar on the left side of each page). The glossary can be navigated by selecting letters from along the top of this frame. We will also provide a pdf of the full glossary, which can be downloaded from this page (the pdf will not always be as current as the site itself).
